A rich man dressed in luxury feasted daily while Lazarus lay hungry at his gate. Both died. Lazarus was comforted with Abraham, while the rich man experienced torment and remembered the good he had refused to share. A great chasm separated them, and Abraham said that Moses and the prophets already gave enough warning for people willing to hear.

The Bible Adventure

Lazarus was comforted with Abraham, while the rich man experienced torment and remembered the good he had refused to share. A great chasm separated them, and Abraham said that Moses and the prophets already gave enough warning for people willing to hear.
Read the passage slowly and follow the setting, conflict, response, and outcome. Notice how it teaches that God sees the ignored poor and calls wealth to become mercy before the final judgment. God acts in real history: He reveals His Son, confronts evil, welcomes outsiders, heals bodies and souls, forms disciples, and calls people into repentance and love.

Coptic Orthodox Teaching
