Daniel refused flattering gifts, reminded the king of Nebuchadnezzar’s humbling, and interpreted the message: the reign had been numbered, weighed, and would end. That night the kingdom changed hands.

The Bible Adventure

King Belshazzar held a feast and used vessels taken from Jerusalem’s temple while praising idols. A hand wrote mysterious words on the wall, and the room filled with fear. Daniel refused flattering gifts, reminded the king of Nebuchadnezzar’s humbling, and interpreted the message: the reign had been numbered, weighed, and would end. That night the kingdom changed hands.

Read the passage slowly and follow the setting, conflict, response, and outcome. Notice how the account teaches that pride that treats holy things carelessly must answer to God’s truthful judgment. God acts within real human history: He confronts idolatry and injustice, preserves life, receives repentance, forms servants, and keeps covenant even when His people are weak.
