Nicodemus, a respected Pharisee, came to Jesus at night and recognised that God was with Him. Jesus spoke of being born from above by water and the Spirit and compared the Spirit’s work to the wind. He explained that the Son of Man would be lifted up and that God loved the world enough to give His only Son so believers may have eternal life.

Nicodemus, a respected Pharisee, came to Jesus at night and recognised that God was with Him. Jesus spoke of being born from above by water and the Spirit and compared the Spirit’s work to the wind. He explained that the Son of Man would be lifted up and that God loved the world enough to give His only Son so believers may have eternal life.
Read the passage slowly and follow the setting, conflict, response, and outcome. Notice how it teaches that God’s love gives new birth and sends the Son to save rather than condemn. God acts in real history: He reveals His Son, confronts evil, welcomes outsiders, heals bodies and souls, forms disciples, and calls people into repentance and love.
