Lazarus became sick, and his sisters Martha and Mary sent for Jesus. Jesus delayed, then came to Bethany after Lazarus had been in the tomb four days. He wept with the mourners, confessed that He is the Resurrection and the Life, and prayed to the Father. At His command, Lazarus came out bound in grave clothes, and Jesus told the community to unbind him and let him go.

The Bible Adventure
Lazarus became sick, and his sisters Martha and Mary sent for Jesus. Jesus delayed, then came to Bethany after Lazarus had been in the tomb four days. He wept with the mourners, confessed that He is the Resurrection and the Life, and prayed to the Father. At His command, Lazarus came out bound in grave clothes, and Jesus told the community to unbind him and let him go.
Read the passage slowly and follow the setting, conflict, response, and outcome. Notice how it teaches that Jesus weeps with grieving friends and reveals Himself as the Resurrection and the Life. God acts in real history: He reveals His Son, confronts evil, welcomes outsiders, heals bodies and souls, forms disciples, and calls people into repentance and love.
