Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan. John hesitated, knowing Jesus had no sin, but Jesus said it was fitting to fulfil all righteousness. As Jesus rose from the water, the heavens opened, the Spirit descended like a dove, and the Father’s voice declared His beloved Son. The public ministry began in Trinitarian revelation.
يسوع جه من الجليل للأردن عند يوحنا. يوحنا اتردد لأنه عارف إن يسوع بلا خطية، لكن يسوع قال إن كده يليق نكمل كل بر. لما طلع من المياه السماوات اتفتحت والروح نزل زي حمامة وصوت الآب أعلن ابنه الحبيب. الخدمة العلنية بدأت بإعلان الثالوث.

The Bible Adventure
Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan. John hesitated, knowing Jesus had no sin, but Jesus said it was fitting to fulfil all righteousness. As Jesus rose from the water, the heavens opened, the Spirit descended like a dove, and the Father’s voice declared His beloved Son. The public ministry began in Trinitarian revelation.
Read the passage slowly and follow the setting, conflict, response, and outcome. Notice how it teaches that the Trinity is revealed and Christ enters the waters to sanctify human nature. God acts in real history: He reveals His Son, confronts evil, welcomes outsiders, heals bodies and souls, forms disciples, and calls people into repentance and love.

Coptic Orthodox Teaching
Christ is baptised not for cleansing sin but to sanctify the waters and reveal the Trinity. His descent anticipates our Baptism, where we die and rise with Him and are received into the life of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Orthodox interpretation holds the Gospel’s historical meaning, the unity of Scripture, and the Church’s worship together. Every application must remain faithful to Christ, the sacraments, love, truth, repentance, and the apostolic faith.
