Introduction | مقدمة

God tested Abraham by commanding him to offer Isaac. Abraham journeyed in costly trust, while Isaac carried the wood. At the decisive moment the angel stopped Abraham, a ram was provided, and the place was named The-Lord-Will-Provide. God reaffirmed the covenant promise.

The Bible Adventure

God tested Abraham by commanding him to offer Isaac. Abraham journeyed in costly trust, while Isaac carried the wood. At the decisive moment the angel stopped Abraham, a ram was provided, and the place was named The-Lord-Will-Provide. God reaffirmed the covenant promise.

Read the passage slowly and notice the people’s words, choices, and consequences. The account teaches that faith entrusts the promised son to God and discovers that God provides. God works truthfully within human history: He confronts evil, protects life, keeps covenant, and patiently calls people to trust and obedience.

This is not a distant tale or a moral slogan. It belongs to the one saving story that prepares for Jesus Christ. We receive the passage with reverence, ask what it reveals about God, and allow it to correct fear, pride, selfishness, or unbelief in our own lives.

Coptic Orthodox Teaching

Isaac carrying the wood and the provided sacrifice point typologically toward Christ, the beloved Son who freely gives Himself. God’s intervention also rejects child sacrifice.

In the Church, Scripture is heard within worship, prayer, the sacraments, and the faith handed down from the apostles. Typology does not erase the historical account; it shows how God patiently prepares His people for the fullness revealed in Christ.

دليل للوالدين
