Season 4 — Joshua and the Promised Land

Episode 65 of 91. Near the end of his life, Joshua gathered Israel and retold God’s faithful acts from Abraham to the promised land. He warned the people against idols and called them to choose whom they would serve. The people renewed the covenant, and Joshua set up a witness stone beside the sanctuary. قرب نهاية حياته، يشوع جمع إسرائيل وحكى أمانة ربنا من إبراهيم لحد أرض الموعد. حذرهم من الأصنام وطلب منهم يختاروا هيعبدوا مين. الشعب جدد العهد، ويشوع حط حجر شهادة جنب المقدس.

Episode 64 of 91. Five kings attacked Gibeon, whose people appealed to Joshua for help. Israel marched through the night, and God threw the attackers into confusion. Joshua prayed for daylight to continue until the rescue and battle were complete, and Scripture marvels that the Lord listened to a human voice and fought for Israel. خمس ملوك هاجموا جبعون، وأهلها طلبوا نجدة يشوع. إسرائيل مشي طول الليل وربنا أربك المهاجمين. يشوع صلى إن النهار يكمل لحد ما الإنقاذ والحرب يتموا، والكتاب بيتعجب إن الرب سمع لصوت إنسان وحارب عن إسرائيل.

Episode 63 of 91. After Jericho, Achan secretly kept items devoted to destruction and hid them beneath his tent. Israel then suffered defeat at Ai. God exposed the covenant breach, Achan confessed, and the stolen things were found. The severe judgment showed that holy things and communal trust could not be treated lightly. بعد أريحا، عخان أخد سرًّا حاجات كانت محرمة وخباها تحت خيمته. بعدها إسرائيل انهزم قدام عاي. ربنا كشف كسر العهد، وعخان اعترف، ولقوا المسروقات. الدينونة الشديدة ورّت إن المقدسات وثقة الجماعة مش حاجة بسيطة.

Episode 62 of 91. Jericho’s walls looked impossible, but Israel was not given an ordinary battle plan. For six days they marched once around the city; on the seventh they marched seven times, the priests sounded trumpets, and the people shouted. The walls fell, while Rahab’s household was rescued as promised. أسوار أريحا كانت باينة مستحيلة، لكن إسرائيل ما أخدش خطة حرب عادية. ست أيام لفوا مرة، وفي اليوم السابع لفوا سبع مرات والكهنة ضربوا بالأبواق والشعب هتف. السور وقع وبيت راحاب اتنقذ حسب الوعد.

Episode 61 of 91. Israel camped beside the flooded Jordan, following the ark at a reverent distance. When the priests’ feet touched the water, the river stopped and the nation crossed on dry ground. Twelve stones were carried from the riverbed so future children could ask what God had done. إسرائيل خيّم جنب الأردن وهو مليان، ومشي ورا التابوت بمهابة. أول ما رجلي الكهنة لمست المياه، النهر وقف والشعب عدى على اليابسة. أخدوا اتناشر حجر من وسط النهر علشان الأطفال بعدين يسألوا ربنا عمل إيه.

Episode 60 of 91. Joshua sent two spies to Jericho, where Rahab hid them from danger. She confessed that the Lord is God, asked mercy for her household, and helped the men escape by a cord from the window. The spies promised protection, and the scarlet cord marked the house when Israel later entered the city. يشوع بعت جاسوسين لأريحا، وراحاب خبّتهم من الخطر. اعترفت إن الرب هو الله وطلبت رحمة لبيتها وساعدت الرجلين ينزلوا بحبل من الشباك. الجاسوسان وعدوها بالحماية، والخيط القرمزي علّم البيت لما إسرائيل دخل المدينة.

Episode 59 of 91. After Moses died, God appointed Joshua to lead Israel across the Jordan. The task was larger than Joshua’s strength, so God repeatedly told him to be strong and courageous, meditate on the Law, and obey it. Joshua passed God’s command to the officers and prepared the people to move together. بعد وفاة موسى، ربنا عيّن يشوع يقود إسرائيل لعبور الأردن. المهمة كانت أكبر من قوة يشوع، فربنا كرر له يتشدد ويتشجع ويلهج في الشريعة ويطيعها. يشوع نقل الوصية للرؤساء وجهّز الشعب يتحركوا مع بعض.
