The Bible Adventure
The angel showed John the Bride, the New Jerusalem, shining with God’s glory. Its gates remain open, its light comes from God and the Lamb, and nothing unclean enters. The vision forms longing for holiness and communion. Read the vision with the whole Bible and the Church, distinguishing its symbols from speculative predictions and receiving its call to faithful worship.
Read the passage slowly and follow the setting, conflict, response, and outcome. Notice how it teaches that the holy city is God’s dwelling, filled with light, welcome, and holiness. God acts in real history: He reveals His Son, confronts evil, welcomes outsiders, heals bodies and souls, forms disciples, and calls people into repentance and love.
This episode belongs to the one saving story fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Receive it with reverence, without inventing missing details, and ask how it corrects fear, pride, indifference, greed, or unbelief in our own lives.
Coptic Orthodox Teaching
The Coptic Orthodox Church reads Revelation as apostolic Christian hope centred on Christ: the holy city is God’s dwelling, filled with light, welcome, and holiness. Its symbols strengthen worship, repentance, endurance, and love; they are not a timetable for frightening predictions.
Orthodox interpretation holds the Gospel’s historical meaning, the unity of Scripture, and the Church’s worship together. Every application must remain faithful to Christ, the sacraments, love, truth, repentance, and the apostolic faith.
