Gabriel came to Nazareth and greeted Mary as highly favoured. He announced that she would conceive Jesus, the Son of the Highest, by the Holy Spirit. Mary asked how this could be, listened to the answer, and freely said she was the Lord’s maidservant. The eternal Word took flesh in her, beginning the mystery of the Incarnation.

The Bible Adventure

Mary asked how this could be, listened to the answer, and freely said she was the Lord’s maidservant. The eternal Word took flesh in her, beginning the mystery of the Incarnation.
Read the passage slowly and follow the setting, conflict, response, and outcome. Notice how it teaches that humble freedom receives God’s word and offers the whole life to His saving purpose. God acts in real history: He reveals His Son, confronts evil, welcomes outsiders, heals bodies and souls, forms disciples, and calls people into repentance and love.

Coptic Orthodox Teaching
The Coptic Orthodox Church calls Mary Theotokos because the One born from her is truly God the Word incarnate. Her ‘Let it be’ is not passive surrender but faithful cooperation, and the Incarnation unites God and humanity without confusion or change.
Orthodox interpretation holds the Gospel’s historical meaning, the unity of Scripture, and the Church’s worship together. Every application must remain faithful to Christ, the sacraments, love, truth, repentance, and the apostolic faith.

التعليم القبطي الأرثوذكسي
الكنيسة القبطية الأرثوذكسية بتسمي مريم والدة الإله لأن المولود منها هو الله الكلمة المتجسد. كلمة «ليكن» مش استسلام سلبي، لكنها تعاون إيماني، والتجسد وحّد الله بالإنسان من غير اختلاط أو تغيير.
التفسير الأرثوذكسي يجمع المعنى التاريخي للإنجيل ووحدة الكتاب وعبادة الكنيسة. كل تطبيق لازم يفضل أمين للمسيح والأسرار والحق والتوبة والمحبة والإيمان الرسولي.
