God called Jeremiah while he was young and appointed him to speak to kings, priests, and people. Jeremiah warned Judah for years, was mocked and threatened, and sometimes wished he could stop speaking. Yet God’s word burned within him. His tears were not weakness; they showed love for a people rushing toward disaster and trust that God still offered return.

ربنا دعا إرميا وهو صغير وعيّنه يكلم ملوك وكهنة وشعب. سنين طويلة حذر يهوذا واتسخروا منه وهددوه، وساعات تمنى يبطل كلام. لكن كلمة ربنا كانت نار جواه. دموعه ما كانتش ضعف؛ كانت محبة لشعب ماشي ناحية كارثة وثقة إن ربنا لسه بيفتح باب الرجوع.

The Bible Adventure

God called Jeremiah while he was young and appointed him to speak to kings, priests, and people. Jeremiah warned Judah for years, was mocked and threatened, and sometimes wished he could stop speaking. Yet God’s word burned within him. His tears were not weakness; they showed love for a people rushing toward disaster and trust that God still offered return.

Read the passage slowly and follow the setting, conflict, response, and outcome. Notice how the account teaches that faithful truth-telling can include tears, courage, and persistent hope. God acts within real human history: He confronts idolatry and injustice, preserves life, receives repentance, forms servants, and keeps covenant even when His people are weak.

This episode belongs to the one saving story that prepares for and is fulfilled in Jesus Christ. We receive it with reverence, without inventing missing details, and ask how it corrects fear, pride, indifference, revenge, or unbelief in our own lives.

Coptic Orthodox Teaching
