Naaman, commander of Syria’s army, suffered from leprosy. An Israelite servant girl pointed him toward Elisha. Naaman arrived expecting an impressive ceremony, but the prophet sent a simple command: wash seven times in the Jordan. Angry at first, he listened to his servants, humbled himself, washed, and was healed. He confessed the God of Israel and offered thanks.

The Bible Adventure

Naaman, commander of Syria’s army, suffered from leprosy. An Israelite servant girl pointed him toward Elisha. Naaman arrived expecting an impressive ceremony, but the prophet sent a simple command: wash seven times in the Jordan. Angry at first, he listened to his servants, humbled himself, washed, and was healed. He confessed the God of Israel and offered thanks.

Read the passage slowly and follow the setting, conflict, response, and outcome. Notice how the account teaches that humble obedience receives grace that pride nearly refuses. God acts within real human history: He confronts idolatry and injustice, preserves life, receives repentance, forms servants, and keeps covenant even when His people are weak.
