Introduction | مقدمة

Saul believed he was defending God while he hurt Christ’s people. On the Damascus road, the risen Jesus stopped him and turned an enemy into a chosen servant. The story shows that repentance is more than regret: it is a grace-filled change of direction inside the Church.

The Bible Adventure

Saul travelled toward Damascus carrying authority to arrest Christians. He breathed threats because he thought followers of Jesus were dangerous. Near the city, a light from heaven suddenly surrounded him. He fell and heard, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” When Saul asked who was speaking, the answer came: “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.” Christ identified Himself with His suffering people.

Saul rose but could not see. His companions led him by the hand into Damascus, where for three days he neither ate nor drank. The confident persecutor had become dependent and silent. Meanwhile the Lord spoke to a disciple named Ananias and sent him to Saul. Ananias knew Saul’s reputation and was afraid, yet he answered God’s call.

Ananias entered, called him “Brother Saul,” laid hands on him, and announced that Jesus had sent him so Saul might receive sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit. Something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes. He arose, was baptised, received food, and regained strength among the disciples he had intended to imprison.

Soon Saul proclaimed that Jesus is the Son of God. Grace did not erase his past as though harm had never happened; it redirected his whole life toward truth, suffering, mission, and service. God’s mercy was larger than Saul’s sin, and Ananias’s obedience helped welcome a repentant enemy as a brother.

Coptic Orthodox Teaching

Conversion is Christ’s initiative and our free response. Saul meets the risen Lord personally, yet he is not left alone: Ananias ministers to him, Baptism joins him to Christ, and the local disciples receive him. Repentance therefore restores communion with God and His Church.

  • What steps marked Saul’s new beginning?
  • Whom might God ask you to welcome or forgive?

Hands-on Activity

Make a two-column “old road/new road” card. Write one harmful direction to leave and three small actions that move toward Christ. Keep it private or share it with a trusted parent or servant.

Faith in Practice This Week

Pause before one daily decision and pray Saul’s question: “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Then choose the truthful and loving action.

Prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, shine Your truth into our hearts. Turn us from every harmful road, give us humble repentance, and send faithful people to guide us. Make our changed lives a witness to Your mercy. Amen.

Guide for Parents

Stress that change includes responsibility, not only a dramatic feeling. Help the child name concrete signs of repentance: truth-telling, apology, repair where possible, sacramental confession, and new habits.

Guide for Sunday School Servants

Let two readers voice Saul and Ananias. Explore both conversions: Saul from persecution, Ananias from fear to obedient welcome. Never shame a child into public disclosure; invite safe, concrete repentance.

مغامرة الكتاب المقدس

شاول طلع ناحية دمشق ومعاه سلطة يقبض على المسيحيين. كان بيهددهم لأنه مقتنع إن أتباع يسوع خطر. قرب المدينة نور من السماء لمع حواليه، فوقع وسمع: «شاول، شاول، لماذا تضطهدني؟» ولما سأل مين بيتكلم، جه الرد: «أنا يسوع الذي أنت تضطهده». المسيح اعتبر وجع شعبه موجَّه له شخصيًا.

شاول قام لكنه ما بقاش شايف. أصحابه مسكوا إيده ودخلوه دمشق، وقعد تلات أيام لا بياكل ولا بيشرب. الراجل الواثق اللي كان بيطارد الناس بقى محتاج وصامت. وفي نفس الوقت، الرب كلم تلميذ اسمه حنانيا وبعته لشاول. حنانيا كان عارف سمعته وخاف، لكنه أطاع ربنا.

حنانيا دخل وقال له: «أيها الأخ شاول»، وحط إيده عليه وقال إن يسوع بعته علشان يبصر ويمتلئ من الروح القدس. وقع من عينيه شيء كأنه قشور، فقام واتعمد وأكل ورجعت قوته وسط نفس التلاميذ اللي كان رايح يقبض عليهم.

بعد وقت قصير، شاول ابتدى يكرز إن يسوع هو ابن الله. النعمة ما أنكرتش الماضي كأن الأذى ما حصلش؛ لكنها غيّرت اتجاه حياته كله ناحية الحق والاحتمال والكرازة والخدمة. رحمة ربنا كانت أكبر من خطيته، وطاعة حنانيا ساعدت الكنيسة تستقبل العدو التائب كأخ.

التعليم القبطي الأرثوذكسي

التغيير بدأ بمبادرة المسيح واستجابة شاول الحرة. شاول قابل الرب القائم شخصيًا، لكنه ما اتسابش لوحده: حنانيا خدمه، والمعمودية ضمته للمسيح، والتلاميذ استقبلوه. التوبة بترجع الشركة مع ربنا وكنيسته.

  • يسوع كشف إيه عن إيذاء شعبه؟

نشاط عملي

اعمل كارت عمودين: «الطريق القديم/الطريق الجديد». اكتب اتجاه غلط عايز تسيبه، وتلات خطوات صغيرة تقربك من المسيح. خليه خاص أو شاركه مع والد أو خادم موثوق.

نعيش الإيمان الأسبوع ده

قبل قرار يومي واحد، قف وصلّي سؤال شاول: «يا رب، ماذا تريد أن أفعل؟» وبعدها اختار التصرف الصادق والمحب.

صلاة

يا رب يسوع المسيح، نوّر قلوبنا بحقك. رجّعنا عن كل طريق مؤذي، وادينا توبة متواضعة، وابعت لنا ناس أمناء يرشدونا. خلّي حياتنا المتغيرة شهادة لرحمتك. آمين.

دليل للوالدين

أكد إن التغيير فيه مسؤولية، مش مجرد إحساس قوي. ساعد الطفل يسمي علامات توبة عملية: الصدق، والاعتذار، وإصلاح اللي نقدر عليه، والاعتراف، وعادات جديدة.
