Most Rev. Thomas G. Wenski
Bishop of Orlando
P.O. Box 1800
Orlando Florida 32802-1800
Your Excellency,
Enclosed please find a defense of the faith. It behooves me to inform My Lord of my position and that of the people of Holy Family who refuse to be indoctrinated in the Neo-Protestantism disseminated in your diocesan parishes. We love and pray for His Holiness Benedict XVI and for all the bishops at every Mass.
I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to visit Holy Family Chapel at your convenience. You will receive a warm welcome. Journalistic integrity demands that a newspaper article give a fair hearing of the issues at hand. Since all the traditional priests who practice in your diocese were IGNORED by your reporter's story about us (and there are quite a few of us), in all intellectual honesty I request that you print this position paper in its entirety in The Florida Catholic.
Since I came to Holy Family in 2001, we've had a 50% increase in baptisms, confirmations and Mass Attendance. Unlike the neighboring, gay-friendly parish, Ascension, www.stbernadette.org/frparish.htm , Holy Family teaches the sexual ethics taught by the church down through the ages. If you ignore this appeal, you will simply be following in the footsteps of your predecessors who bare the responsibility for the proliferation of Traditional Chapels in Central Florida and they will only continue to grow as they have been doing throughout the entire world because when they see the real thing, people fall in love with the Catholic Faith.
There exists a solidly documented saga of meetings, petitions and correspondence with the Bishop of Orlando, from Catholic priests and faithful repeatedly requesting the diocese to grant them the Ecclesia Dei Indult for over 20 years now. I would hate to have to add this letter to it. So, despite your reporter's assurances to the contrary, I regret to inform you that like most dioceses in the United States, it is the very Diocese of Orlando that is not in communion with the Holy See.
I remain, respectfully yours in Christ,
+Most Rev. Joseph S. Macek, MDiv. D.D.
